I met Virgil through New Berlin Senior Taxi as he was a regular rider.... he was always pleasant... talked about his wife and sons.... his ministry... he loved listening to the music on family radio on his way home RIP, Virgil.... peace and comfort to Rosalyn and Virgil's sons...

Uncle Virgil was a treasured member of our Greatest Generation. When my dad, Virgil's brother "Studie", passed away in 2009, Uncle Virgil helped to fill the tremendous void. When I visited UV a couple of years ago, it was like having the opportunity to visit my dad again. The visit was such a blessing to me. It reminded me that it was "special" to be a member of the Staples family. As we like to say in the south, it reminded me that I was blessed to "come from good stock".
It's funny how we remember certain conversations, those that had impacts on our . I certainly remember listening to one between my dad and his younger brother.
"You know you were always my hero", said Virgil.
"Well, that's awful nice but I'm no hero. I knew how you looked up to me though. It made me a better man - I had a huge responsibility and I didn't want to disappoint you", said Studie.
"Virgil, you are a good man. I'm proud that you are my brother. I tell Studie(me, standing there) all the time - I plan on getting to heaven but I know that there will be at least 2 people in the line in front of me, my momma and Virgil."
I have no doubt that the Staples brothers are reunited again and they are all dancing(and saying "Roll Tide") on streets paved with gold!
RIP Uncle Virgil - until we meet again.
