Rosemary J. Ternes passed away on June 3, 2020 at the age of 92 surrounded by family. Rosemary was married to Robert Kuech from 1951 to 1965 and, after his death, married Eugene Ternes in 1974. While born an only child, she became the center of a blended family of 6 children: Patricia (Michael) Sargent, Jeffrey (Yvonne) Ternes, John (Gail) Kuech, Amy (Timothy) Martin, Thomas (Domenica) Kuech and Jennifer (Craig) Simons. Her passion was her family. Her self-declared ‘claim to fame’ was that despite being an only child, Oma, as she was known as, was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren all of whom she lovingly kept track of through all the milestones in their lives. She was a proud lifelong Milwaukeean.
Her lifelong passion as a nurse served many from WWII to her retirement. She started her career by earning her way through St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Milwaukee as an Army Cadet nurse. She served at the Wood V.A. hospital in Milwaukee, WI taking care of newly returning soldiers in the aftermath of WWII. She later worked as a clinic nurse for many years at Marquette University in the student health service, and later at the Teamster’s clinic. She loved life and loved learning. She served as a volunteer at many places including the Milwaukee Public Museum and the Channel 10 auction. Gene and Rosemary combined their love of learning with travel through their many annual ‘Elder Hostel’ vacations throughout the country (covering all 50 states). She loved books and was an avid cardplayer. Always active, Oma pursued many craft programs including the yearly Christmas ornaments for all her family members. Rosemary was an animal lover and enjoyed being grandmother to the many pets forming the family menagerie. She is survived and cherished by her family, their innumerable pets, and many friends. A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice. The family welcomes your recollections and celebration of a life well-lived and well-shared with your notes and photos through this website

I am sorry you have lost your mom and Oma. I have many childhood memories of "Auntie Rosemary", like her bright brown eyes, sweet smile and her calm and serene nature. She will live on in your hearts.
