Obituary for Virginia D "Genie" Fortune (Kaytna)
Virginia Fortune “Genie” (Nee Kaytna) of New Berlin, Passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022 at age 94.
She was welcomed into heaven by her husband Joseph of 70 years, daughters Janis (Frank dec’d), Barbara, loving sister Hilde and brother Ervin.
She is survived by her children Marc (Jackie), Leslie (Thomas dec’d), Christopher, and Joel (Claudia). She is further survived by 9 loving grandchildren and 10 mischievous great grandchildren! Also, by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
All her family inherited her sense of humor, love of a good party and the joy of family.
Virginia was born in Milwaukee on June 27, 1927, she married Joe in 1947, and they resided in Bay View until all the kids left the nest.
She and Joe moved to Geneva, Illinois, where she worked as a manager at The Mill Race Inn. After retirement they returned to the Milwaukee area.
She was our much-loved Matriarch and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Private services will be held, and she will be interred at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
