Obituary for Victor D. Otero
Victor Dones Otero, 87 years young, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
Affectionately known as the country singer with a Spanish accent, Victor was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico to
Petronila Otero Negron and Eduardo Dones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Josephine and his siblings, Juanita, Aurea, and Jose.
He is survived by his sister Rosa, affectionate father to Helen, Eileen (Daniel), Susie (Mike). Grandpa to Steve
(Kristin), Vanessa (Kostas), Brad, Sara, Erica, and Matthew. Great Grandpa to Max, Lucy, Fletcher, Emma John,
Dylan and Travis.
Victor left his home in Puerto Rico at the age of 17 to join the US Army. While stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas, he
met a Mexican Señorita, Josefina (Josephine) with whom he had three lovely daughters. He retired from
Rexnord in 1995 after 44 years.
Victor will be fondly remembered for his delicacy of “rice and beans”. Victor loved to sing in English and in
Spanish. His favorite pastime was listening to live or recorded Mariachi and Country music all day long.
Karaoke was his passion. He sang with a group of friends at multiple venues throughout Milwaukee. If Victor
wasn't doing a show you knew you could find him at the Golden Corral with his “barriga llena, corazón contento”
(full belly, happy heart) followed by having to adjust his fashionable, shiny belt buckle. Known for his joke telling,
clever card tricks and disappearing coins, Victor was also a casual magician who would leave you in wonder. No
one was a stranger to him and he warmly embraced all who met him. His faith in “Papito Dios” transitioned him
to his heavenly home.

final months.
A private family service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, New Berlin, WI. Interment at St. Adalbert
