Obituary for Thomas James "Tom" Perszyk

Thomas James Perszyk
March 15, 1953 - August 28, 2020

Thomas James Perszyk went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 28th, 2020 at age 67 following his brave battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) for over 3 years. Beloved husband of Grace Weyker. Loving father of Michelle (Todd), Jaimee (Collier) Cannon, Tanya, Danielle (Jordan) Henkel, and Emily. His memory will be forever cherished.

Tom was born on March 15th, 1953 and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He had fond experiences working at a number of restaurants with family and friends, especially as a delivery driver. His passion for the open road led to a long and adventurous career as a courier. Between work and vacations, Tom visited 49 of 50 states. He surrounded himself with nature and was blessed to explore new places in the company of his loved ones.

Tom shared his active lifestyle with others. He enjoyed fishing on the lake, going for walks and bike rides, visiting water and theme parks, and playing sports until it was too dark outside to see. He was a pitcher and outfielder on baseball teams through church and other leagues even into his sixties. He was an avid Brewers, Packers, and Bucks fan, but took even greater pleasure in cheering on and coaching his own daughters in their softball and basketball careers. Tom also found happiness playing card games, betting at dog and horse tracks, gambling at casinos, and indulging in all-you-can-eat buffets (particularly those with crab legs).

His life was a living example of one of his favorite Bible verses, Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Tom knew that his purpose was to spread God’s love day in and day out. He brightened each room with his big smile, great sense of humor, and warm spirit. Tom was loved by all who knew him. He touched our lives and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Tom was preceded into eternal life by his father Norbert Perszyk, mother Mavonne (née Erickson), father-in-law George Weyker, mother-in-law Helen Weyker, and brothers Maynard and Mark.

He is survived by his wife, daughters, brother Keith (Carol), sister Karen (Claude) York, brother Wayne (Sue), sister-in-law Kathy, and brother-in-law Gordon (Sandy) Weyker. He was a proud uncle to Julia, Tom, Jen, Mike, Stephanie, Brian, Alena, John, Kathryn, and Valerie, and great-uncle to Collin, Eleanor, Lily, Ben, and Josh. He is further survived by other family and friends.

Please join us in celebrating Tom’s life on Wednesday, September 9th, 2020 at Fox River Christian Church, S46W24130 Lawnsdale Rd, Waukesha, WI. A visitation will be from 5:30-6:30pm with a service from 6:30-7:15 and dinner following.
