Obituary for Stanley J. Sterle

Stanley Joseph Sterle- “Stan”- Milwaukee

Passed away peacefully with family at his side on Saturday, February 25, at the age of 89. Stan was the loving father of Kathy (Rick) Rose and Joe (Dee) Sterle, Stepfather of Karen (Randy) Hackbarth. Beloved brother of Lorry Poklar, sister-in-law Diane Sterle and cousin Birdie Robb.

Extremely proud grandfather of Callie Sterle, Joey Sterle, Peter (Manoela) Rose and Bryan Rose, Step- Grandfather of Jeremiah (Greta) Hackbarth, Jennah (Ryan) Strand, Dori Jensen, Danielle Jensen and four
great-step grandchildren.

Preceded in death by brother David Sterle and brother-in-law Rudy Poklar. Also survived by Lisa (Todd Scheel) Bice and Brianna Bice, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Stan was a Reservist in the U.S Navy on a submarine during the Korean War. Stan’s first love after his family was music! A very talented musician from a young age, Stan played many instruments but was a master at the wind instruments such as saxophone and clarinet. You would see Stan all over the Milwaukee area playing countless weddings and benefits.

After retirement, he joined the 1st Brigade Band, a Civil War Reenactment band in Watertown, WI where he played bass horns and loved being with the band! Stan worked as a Pattern Maker for his trade, much like a tool & die maker but with wood. He retired early to spend time with his family and play music. Stan’s strength, sense of humor, love and devotion will be carried on for many generations and he will be in our hearts forever. Special thanks to the hospice care unit at the Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee for their loving care.

There will be no funeral or visitation per his request. In lieu of gifts, please consider donating to the 1st Brigade Band.
