Obituary for Shelly A. Grochowski (Edwardsen)

Shelly Ann Edwardsen Grochowski

Born to this world July 9th, 1968
Passed away January 22nd, 2020

Taken too soon, after experiencing more than most ever will.

We don’t know where to start other than with that statement. At the age of 51, Shelly Ann Grochowski, was taken from all of us whose lives she has touched. Shelly left a lasting impression on all of those she encountered, an impression that will never be forgotten. She had a way of always putting others before herself, even in the worst times of her life. No matter the circumstances, Shelly was there to listen to what anyone needed to talk about; Laughing, crying and even providing the occasional band-aid to a troubled heart, (*and the childhood boo-boo). It was not expressed often enough, but she was the most loving and caring person we all had in our lives.

Although at times, Shelly's struggles would have a lot of her personality getting lost in translation, the Shelly we all knew and loved, was always there somewhere. Her motto was "hope," and her strength made it impossible to forget the absolutely wonderful person she was. Whether it be her willingness to always try something new, or her commitment to things she loved doing, such as spending every minute possible with her family, or any and all types of arts and crafts, she had enough creativity, and passion, for everyone in her life to share and enjoy.

After infinite battles with her physical and mental health, Shelly went to sleep with her husband, Michael, on January 21st, 2020 and would never wake to see the light of the next day. Shelly continued her journey passed the world we all know, before many could follow; Including her father Ronald Edwardsen and her mother Barbara, her brother Stephen Edwardsen, her sisters Susan Harter, and Shari Peper, her husband of 33 years, Michael Grochowski, her sons Nicholas (Kelly) and Robert (Danielle) , and most important to her, Dominick and Danica, her grandchildren.

All of those close to Shelly will carry her with them in their hearts for as long as they live. Not because they try to, but because knowing her made us want to be better people. More caring, and loving than we would ever have been without her. She will be deeply missed, and certainly never forgotten.
Memorial gathering at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 8th from 1 to 4 PM. Service 4 PM.
