Obituary for Sara Jean Seby (Freeborough)

Sarah (Sally) Jean Seby, 84, of New Berlin, died on May 5, 2023, after several years of declining health.

Sally was born in Homestead, PA in 1938, the second child and first daughter of the late Wilma (Safran) and Robert James Freeborough. She graduated from Munhall High School in 1956 and briefly attended nursing school at the former Homestead Hospital. Sally and Howard Finnecy eloped on May 25, 1957; they later divorced. In 1980 she married David M. Seby who died on October 31, 2021.

Sally and her family moved to Boalsburg, PA in 1968 where she lived for 40 years. She later lived in State College, PA and Centre Hall, PA before moving to the Milwaukee area in 2015. Sally primarily worked as a homemaker and mother to her three sons. She also worked at McClanahan’s, Sears, Locus, Inc., Penn State Housing and Foods, and the Penn State Federal Credit Union. Sally enjoyed cooking favorite meals for her family, crocheting, and helping with her grandchildren. She loved dogs.

She is survived by her three sons from her first marriage: Robert Finnecy (Virginia Mang), Alan Finnecy (James Hackman), and Jay Finnecy; grandchildren Christina Laughman, Cynthia Tortorello, Brian Hackman, Anne Hackman, Allison Finnecy, and Jeffrey Finnecy; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger siblings: Ronald Freeborough and Cheri Bolling; her older brother James Freeborough died in 2020.
