Obituary for Sandra M. Kohne (Kohne)

Sandra M. Kohne

Passed away peacefully at home Friday February 18th with family members at her side

Survived by husband Joseph Koenigs, sons Robert Nickel, Richard Nickel, William Nickel, Gregory Koenigs, and Andrew Koenigs. Further survived by parents Richard and Audrey Kohne and siblings Vince Kohne, Jackie (Porter), and Brian Kohne, as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step grandchildren.

Sandy was a loving and compassionate person with a love for life and a smile that lit up a room. She was very hard working and dedicated to helping others. Sandy achieved a degree later in life which enabled her to obtain a position in Occupational Therapy with Aurora Health Care; in that capacity she used her caring and empathetic personality to help many people, often those disadvantaged and distressed. This gave her great pride and the love and compassion she had for her patients was evident to everyone she spoke with.

She was also an avid animal lover and many rescue animals benefited from her care.

Sandy enjoyed time with her family and cherished the opportunity to care and nurture her grandchildren as well as attend exercise classes, music festivals, and travel extensively via motorcycle with her husband.

Sandy was taken from us much too early due to the devastating neurological illness ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Despite a lengthy illness and physical issues she remained positive and was an inspiration to those around her.
