Obituary for Salvatore Roberto "Sal" Raciti Jr.

Salvatore R. Raciti Jr., age 70, of Muskego, WI, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2022 after an eight-year battle with PSP. He is survived by his loving wife Linda L. Raciti after 48 years of marriage, their three children, Tammy L. Mooney (husband Patrick), Amy J. Raciti (husband Ken) and Tory R. Raciti III. “Sal”, as his friends and family called him, is also survived by his two grandsons, Jacob R. Mooney and Zachary T. Mooney of Southlake, TX.

Sal was born to Salvatore Raciti Sr. and Roberta (Hegg) Raciti on September 8, 1951. He was raised in West Allis along with his six siblings. Sal attended West Allis Central High School and developed an early passion for working on cars and making things with his hands. After high school, he worked as a pattern maker and ultimately started a successful tool and die business for 40 years. Sal enjoyed restoring his 1940 Ford Truck.

In addition to spending time daily with his family, Sal had two hobbies he loved: lifting weights/working out, going fishing and playing golf. He was a member of the Whitnall park Men’s Golf Club. Sal loved helping people. He was always willing to lend a hand and could fix pretty much anything! His grandsons, Jacob and Zachary, were his true joy. He traveled the world to see them. He loved showing them how to do things and genuinely loved playing with them. They put the biggest smile on his face!

In 2014, Sal began to have trouble maintaining his balance. His symptoms perplexed his family and his doctors for years. In 2017, he was diagnosed of having a rare neurological disease, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). It was later confirmed by PSP experts and he’s been fighting the progression by maintaining his passion for fitness: even riding his recumbent bicycle almost daily. Sal’s passion to work hard, do his best and have pride in all that he did and made shined through his daily fight and continues to inspire his family and friends.

A celebration of life is being planned. Linda and family would like to thank all of Sal’s friends and family for their continued prayers and support as Sal fought this terrible brain disease.

Rest in Peace, Sal. You are already missed.
