Obituary for Rosemary Ann Gombas (Polka)

Rosemary Ann Gombas, beloved mom and grandma, of Hales Corners, Wisconsin, died on July 14th 2022 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was 91 years old. Born on November 18, 1930, to Franz Martin Polka and Edna May Hartman Polka, in Melrose Park, Illinois. Rosemary attended two years at the University of Wyoming at Laramie followed by a term at Northern Illinois State Teachers College. She married Otto F. Gombas on March 4, 1960, and they had one child, Thomas Gombas. They divorced in April 1972. She worked in the medical field, was a homemaker, and a teacher’s aide. She was a terrific mom, and liked reading, antiquing and Scrabble. Later in life she found a renewed friendship with Otto Gombas which she enjoyed when visiting her grandchildren. Rosemary is survived by her son, Thomas Gombas, daughter-in-law, Isabie Gombas, and two grandchildren, Cole and Troy Gombas. She is preceded in death by her father Franz Polka, and her mother Edna Polka, and her half-sister Jeanne Quinn, and her half-brother Jack Polka. Visitation will be 11am-11:45am on July 28, 2022, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 12pm and Inurnment Service, at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community in Hales Corners, Wisconsin In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: https://www.alz.org/
