Obituary for Richard James Brookman

Richard (Dick) James Brookman, age 90 passed away peacefully on Friday October 21st due to Leukemia.
Dick was born on April 27th 1932 in Tomah Wisconsin to Frank and Juanita Brookman. Dick met and fell in love with Nadine Frank and they were married in 1951. Together they had 4 daughters; Lona, Wendy, Shelly, and Lori.

Dick attended West Division High School and graduated in 1950. He became a locomotive engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad until the age of 62 when he retired. Dick had many hobbies. He was always fixing something around the house. He liked to work on his cars. He loved to hunt and fish with the guys. Dick and Nadine purchased property in Crivitz and Dick spent many years fixing a place for his family to vacation. Once Dick retired his greatest hobby was golf. Right to the end-of-life Dick loved music. On one particular day Dick and daughters Lori and Wendy sat in his living room watching the tribute to Kris Christopherson singing along together.

Dicks daughters Lona married to Ken Masch had 3 boys James, Kenneth Junior, and Randall Masch. Daughter Wendy now married to David Henneberry has 6 children Michael, Cory, Amy, Ashley, and step-children, Joshaua, and Megan. Daughter Shelly (now deceased) has one daughter Jennifer. Daughter Lori married Joseph Stromski and has 2 children Riana, and Alex. Great Grandchildren include Brooke, Aiden, Caitlin, Jackson, Coraline, Oliver, Ethan, Colton. Mikey, River, Axel, Riley, Payton. Jayvin, Mason, Owen, and Ella Rose.

In 1975 Dick and Nadine were divorced and later Dick met a wonderful woman, Ginny Schappie. Ginny has 4 children Kim, Lori, Greg, and Scott. Dick and Ginny have been together ever since. Ginny lives in Madison Wisconsin and Dick visited her every weekend. One of Dicks biggest sorrows when he became ill was that he could not go visit Ginny on the weekends. Dick had a long battle with leukemia and fought right up to the end. He will be forever remembered and loved by his family and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 27th at 11 AM at First Lutheran Church, 7400 West Lapham St West Allis, WI.
Food and beverages at 2 pm at The VFW , 17980 Beloit Road, New Berlin Wi.
