Dr. Paul Gregory Stein

Age 91. Born to eternal life November 20, 2019. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann. Beloved father of Walter Stein, Mary Stein, and the late Sue Stein. Proud grandpa of Mary Ann Cook. Great-grandpa of Josh and Jayla Diaz. Dear brother of Letty (Tom) Huntoon. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Paul grew up in Muskegon Michigan. Was in the military band playing the drums while stationed in Germany during World War II. He went on to study at St. Louis University, Notre Dame for Medical School, and Georgetown University for Psychiatry. He interned in an orphanage in Marquette, Michigan where he fell in love with adopted daughter Sue Stein, bringing her home on weekends and eventually adopting her. In 1962, Ann and Paul relocated to Hales Corners then Franklin, Wisconsin. He practiced psychiatry at the VA, Waukesha Memorial, Mt. Sinai, and with Psychiatric Associates. He had a unique habit of crocheting blankets while listening to clients. He was an avid hunter of rabbits, geese, and pheasants. Played golf regularly and jogged regularly. He went fishing regularly with his male friends up north. He loved playing the French Horn, belonging to various bands and studying with members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Paul was a singer and member of a competitive barbershop choir and a competitive barbershop quartet that placed well in national competitions. Music was a center piece in his life. When he was a child his father took him performing on the vaudeville circuit which seemed to serve to develop his great sense of humor and performance skills that delighted all who were lucky enough to engage him in discourse. He lived his final years at Tudor Oaks Senior Center with the support of friends and family. He was loved and will be missed by many.
