Obituary for Paul C. Davis

Pops was born in Southwestern Iowa at his grandparents farm house in Cass. Middle child of Jesse and Helen Davis, he was raised in Wauwatosa WI. After graduating high school, he entered the US Coast Guard, and was stationed in New Orleans, and then Grand Marais MN. Upon leaving the service he studied engineering at Milwaukee School of Engineering, and Marquette University. He worked most of his career with Evinrude Motors in Milwaukee, then Waukegan, before retiring.

He married Catherine A Schmitz in June 1956, June 2, 2022 would have been their 66th wedding anniversary. They were crazy about each other, and had five kids in just under six years! Music and art were his absolute joy, learning to play the guitar in his early 30s. We were all raised with music all around us. Before he retired, he studied watercolor and had a successful career as a working artist selling in both Door County Wisconsin and Oconomowoc Wisconsin, along with countless art shows in the region. He and mom spent many winters in Mission, then Port Aransas TX, and summers at the cottage on Rome Pond.

He is survived by Cathy, daughters Mary Jo (Michael), and Julia, sons William, Jack (Mimi) and Steven (Diane). There are nine grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, who all miss him, with two more on the way. Our lives will be less without him.
