Obituary for Norman Paul "Norm" Haasch

Norman (Norm) Paul Haasch, age 76, took off on his final flight to the great fishing pond in the sky on March 15th, 2023.

Norm was born to Norman W. and Rose Haasch in Upper Michigan along the shores of Lake Michigan where his love for fishing started. A love passed on to countless Scouts where he taught the fishing merit badge. He had an appreciation for the great outdoors which, when combined with his selfless drive to serve his community, resulted in him receiving the Silver Beaver award from the Boy Scouts of America. Though he loved to be out in nature, and often said Jesus fished with him, he preferred to sleep in the comfort of his own bed.

He was a man of many talents and interests. In his career he tackled challenging problems in computer operations at First Wisconsin/Firstar Bank, spending late nights diving deep into issues and coordinating fixes to keep the systems in working order. As a licensed pilot he was at ease flying high amongst the clouds as he was on earth; with the exception of the heights that accompanied tall structures such as Ferris wheels. He was a connoisseur of history and could often be found buried in a book or enraptured by a documentary. He loved to cook and when he did, he did not confine himself to following or writing down a recipe and instead he would experiment with seasonings and ingredients in ways that left each dish unique.

Norm is survived by his wife Mary Anne, as well as their three children: Paul, Joseph (Melissa), and Kristine (Emily). He was so independent prior to marrying Mary Anne that one friend had asked why he wanted to get married in the first place since he could take care of himself perfectly well; to which he replied that he loved her. Though he was a quiet man that love was ever present both in his role as a husband and a father.

His visitation is on March 30th, 2023, from 10:00am to 10:45am followed by mass at 11:00am both located at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W Forest Home Ave, Hales Corners. Wear jeans In honor of Norm's wishes, (and his father before him), or casual dress.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to organizations that embody Norm's life and values such as: the St. Mary's of Hales Corners Celebration Choir (stmaryhc.org), the Trevor Project (thetrevorproject.org), or Repairers of the Breach (http://www.repairers.org).
