Nancy C Peters (nee Golner) age 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep October 31st. Beloved wife of Deane W Peters Sr for 58 years. Cherished mother of Lynn Nan Peters, Laura Lee Peters Gentele and Deane W Peters Jr. Loving grandmother of Nathan Gentele, Jeromy Gentele, Ryan Gentele, Aaron (Abigail) Gentele, Deane W Peters, III and Anthony Peters. Great-grandmother of Jaxon Gentele. She is further survived by her brother Gerald (the late Rosemary) Golner, sister-in-law Joyce (the late Edward) Peters, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Henrietta (nee Siewert) Golner and son Deane W Peters Jr.

Nancy, also known as “Mama Jelly Belly” to some, began her working career in the Mill Valley Bakery just down the road. She worked as a nurse’s aide at New Berlin Hospital and she loved this job! She spent a lifetime always being there to take care of family, friends, and strangers who were sick and wounded or who just needed a helping hand. Some say that her house was “expandable” because there always seemed to be room for “one more”.

After leaving New Berlin Hospital, Nancy began a lifetime career of driving. She mostly drove school buses, but she also drove semi-truck! This is where she got the handle “Mama Jelly Belly”. She drove truck while Deane Sr recovered from surgery and then helped out when other truckers needed some time off.
Nancy loved anything to do with the water. Fishing was her favorite hobby, but she dabbled in many things including knitting and crocheting, reading, gardening, camping, swimming, card games, and hunting. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for several years.

Family was everything to Nancy. She spent her lifetime and energy loving them and caring for them. Her husband Deane was her anchor. Even as her memory faded, if she knew where Deane was, she knew where she was. She did the best she knew how when it came to her children. They could be a handful, but she was up to the challenge. The blessing of six grandsons and one great-grandson was a source of joy for her. She spent many hours with them including time spent fishing and working outside. She will be dearly missed.

Special thanks to VITAS Healthcare in West Allis, Prohealth Care and Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Linden Grove (New Berlin), Applewood of Brookfield, and the numerous EMS crews who tended to Nancy. We are also very grateful to Joyce Peters, Deb Derler, Jessica Schober Braun, and so many others who have helped in so many ways. Please know that we appreciate each and every one of you.

Nancy always supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She would have supported cancer research in honor of her son, Deane. She had also supported Variety-the Children’s Charity of Wisconsin. Her church home for most of her adult life was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Muskego, WI. Please consider these places if you are moved to donate to a charity in her honor.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, S66 W14325 W Janesville Rd, Muskego, WI 53150. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements were made through Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners (
