Obituary for Michael J. Campos

Michael J. Campos, age 63, gently passed away at home near Watertown, WI, surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2022.

Michael was an avid lover of listening to and creating music, playing guitar and harmonica, riding vintage motorcycles, cooking, outdoor adventures and fixing things. The only thing Michael loved more than bringing people together to share his passions was figuring out how everything worked and sharing it with others.

Michael was born in San Jose, CA, on Oct 1, 1958, to Jerald "Jerry" Campos and Peggy Jean (Williams) MacGregor and raised by his paternal grandparents, Gerald "Ike" and Neta (Willis) Campos. He cherished his Spreckels, CA upbringing, especially his Order of the Arrow "Special Forces" Boy Scout troop, where he learned self-discipline and self-reliance through backpacking, hiking, and camping in the Sierra Nevadas.

Michael served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma, WA, where he was assigned to work in the powerplant at the 25th NORAD, SAGE building. After the Air Force, he stayed in Seattle, where he lived for more than a decade before he married his wife, Dona, in 1994.

Michael and Dona relocated to Wisconsin after the birth of their first son, where Michael worked for Johnson Controls before joining the facilities team at Covance Labs, located in a former NORAD, SAGE building. There he served as Maintenance Manager, then as Global Infrastructure/Energy Manager when he won an Associated Building and Contractors Project of Distinction Award before joining the Wisconsin Focus on Energy team at SAIC, now Leidos. He spent the last several years at Masters Building Solutions, Inc. as an Energy Account Manager, where he enjoyed working with an excellent team and various clients to save money and energy.

Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dona; sons, Carver and Riley; sister Denise Campos, numerous cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Terry Renee Campos.

"Q Master MYK," the "Limybykr," will be deeply missed and remains "beloved on the earth."
