Obituary for Maya Angelina Griffiths

Maya was a loving and kindhearted Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She valued the time she spent with her family, especially her brother and sisters – where there were plenty of laughs and good times. Whether she was spending an evening with her friends, having fun with her niece in a pool, or having a game night with her family. She especially enjoyed her niece Leilani. Playing games and going to the Zoo or Museum. She also enjoyed all the time she spent with her friends and team mates.

Maya loved animals and just adored the three family dogs, Cinnamon, Hunter and Harvey. Wherever Maya was, so was Cinnamon – at her feet, on her lap – and she was always willing to provide a good belly rub or head scratch. In addition to being an animal lover, Maya also enjoyed being outdoors. There were many family vacations that included fishing, boating, hiking, long walks and campfires.

Maya enjoyed playing sports, both hockey and softball. If she wasn’t playing hockey – which was her favorite – taking up a live hockey game was one of her favorite pastimes. With Maya’s passion for hockey she started with SHAW Hockey and then landed a spot on the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals women’s hockey team. She played in tournaments in Toronto, Winnipeg, Rochester, Detroit and Pittsburgh. That allowed her to fulfill one of her lifelong dreams, to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Maya was also a great Softball Player. She began playing in the Greendale Twinite League at age 8. She found a passion for pitching, and played Select League Softball with the Franklin Force, Greenfield Ignitors and Wisconsin Twisters until she graduated from High School.

In addition to her talent for sports and her love of animals and the outdoors, Maya also had a hidden creative side. These talents shined when she and her sisters would prep for a night out – where she would glitz up their hair styles and makeup. Sassifying digital photos and posting them to Facebook was also a fun pastime for her.

Maya A. Griffiths, Age 25, passed away March 29, 2023. Maya is survived by her parents, Robert and Connie Griffiths, her sisters Marie and Alainna, and her two nieces, Leilani and Iliana.
