Obituary for Mary M Dunning

Mary Dunning (age 90) of Franklin WI went peacefully home to be with God on November 29, 2022. There she joins her loving husband of 56 years, Gerald Dunning and her Brother Chris Houterman.

Mary will be dearly missed by her children, Mark (Jackie) Dunning, Michael (Piedad) Dunning , Kathryn (Kari) Dunning , Teresa (Brent) Sundquist. She is further survived by her cherished grandchildren, Andrew (Stacy) Dunning, Alyssa Dunning, Eric (Victoria) Kurzynski, Brian Kurzynski, Christa (Emma) Eaton , Sloan Dunning, and Serena Dunning. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael (the late Fran) Houterman, Patrick (Jane) Houterman, and Dorthy (Tom) Fabian.

She was also blessed with her great grandchildren, Landon, Logan, Thomas, Colin and Mia.

Mary was born in Bowler WI on July 11, 1932. Her family moved to Milwaukee WI where she attended grade school at Sacred Heart. She went on to attend High School at St. Mary's Academy. She earned a scholarship to Cardinal Strich College graduating with honors in Latin and Chemistry. Mary had a knack for doing complex math equations in her head without scratch paper much to the chagrin of her brother Michael.

Upon graduation Mary worked as a chemist for the Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee. There she met the love of her life, her husband, Gerry. They were married June 21, 1956 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, where the front doors had just been replaced with beautiful new ones. She always told us, they were done for their wedding.

Mary cheerfully took on her new role as homemaker, caring for her husband and her children. She also enjoyed crafts, reading, volunteering, square dancing with Gerry, camping, and mall walking followed by a dougnut and coffee of course.
