Life changes so quickly. Barely a month ago, we celebrated Christmas with much joy. Now, we are stunned by the sudden passing of our mother.

Words can never express the loss our family will feel at our matriarch's passing. She was the glue. Our friend, voice of wisdom, the center of our family.

At the same time, we rejoice that she has gone to meet Jesus. We know we will see her again. She was well prepared and we know she appreciated all the prayers said over her and for her during her last days. We have no doubt she will walk right in those pearly gates and will probably resume her role asking if she can 'get you something to drink' or 'are you hungry?'.

We've lost a treasure who was loved by so so many. Our mother was hugely generous, deeply faithful to God and her Catholic faith, and had a great sense of humor. A hostess supreme until the very end: with her last breaths, she was ordering us to make sure all the visitors had something to eat and drink.

For the past two weeks, she was surrounded by visitors from near and far. Family and friends made a special trip to say goodbye. It was beautiful how she was awash in love to the very end. No one wanted her to go.

Yet, we look forward to connecting with her again. In the meantime, her legacy will live on in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

We will refrain from posting pictures to honor her wish of not 'having her picture plastered all over that Internet'. She was quite the character.

Thanks, Mom, for everything. So many memories and so much love. You will be deeply missed for a very long time.

Thank you, everyone, for the prayers you have sent up on our behalf. Please keep them coming. The days ahead will be difficult, especially for our father who has lost his partner of 65 years.

This prayer was composed by one of the grandchildren in honor of her grandmother:
Lord, we ask that you fill our precious Grammy’s heart with Your Grace and Love as you free her of her pain and suffering by bringing her home to be with You. We thank you for the opportunity to know her, love her, be blessed by her and after it all the opportunity to say goodbye. We thank you for creating such an incredible woman who has brought life and love to so many. Surrounded by those who love her here on earth we ask that You take her into Your arms and bring her home. Give those of us endeared to her the strength to show her happiness for her call home in the midst of all our sorrows. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
