Obituary for Margaret M. Niederfeld (Winzentsen)
GREENFIELD - (nee Winzentsen) Age 92. Born into eternal life October 4, 2022.
Margaret Mary Niederfeld, age 92, passed away peacefully October 4, 2022 of natural causes. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1929 in Milwaukee to Margaret and Carl Winzentsen. She married her beloved Harold (Dick) Niederfeld on September 9, 1950 who preceded her in death in 1998.
Margie (or Maggie) was energetic and full of life. She was one of four sisters, wife of a police officer, and mother of three while working in many capacities for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. She was a volunteer at St. John de Nepomuc providing playground and lunch duty where her children attended. Later on, she was secretary to the school principal. Evenings, she performed booking and sales at Lasch Photography Studio where many of her family members also worked. After her husband’s retirement, she went on to work at St. John Kanty on the near south side of Milwaukee. She adored being surrounded by children and they loved her in return.
In her later years, Margaret moved into Layton Terrace. She spent her golden years learning Wii bowling, playing Mahjong, calling bingo and rounding up her friends for games of Sheepshead. She was well known and loved as a friend and ambassador in her living community. And she kept everyone well fed on her homemade cookies, earning her nickname "Cookie Nana" or “Nutter Butter”. Margaret owned and loved many pugs over her lifetime and enjoyed feeding the birds, flying kites and doing puzzles. She was know for gatherings at her home before moving to Layton Terrace, was an avid Green Bay Packer and Badger fan, she also loved the beauty of God's nature.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Dawn (John) Dungey, her two sons Richard (Linda) and James (Carole); grandchildren Michael (Mandi) Miller, Jordan (Kris) Miller, Erich Miller, Shawn(Jane) McKanry, Erin (Keith ) Kuzminski, Patric (Ashley) McKanry, Bryan (Amber) McKanry, Sara Niederfeld (Kyle Westenberger), Jessica (Ken) Egvedt, and 20 great-grandchildren. Also in acknowledgement are the many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who were a cherished part of her life.
Special thanks to all the people who spent time visiting and caring for our mother in her later years.
Please join us in celebrating her life Saturday, October 29, 2022, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 6060 W. Loomis Rd. Greendale WI. Visitation will be at 10AM with Mass at 11AM followed by lunch.
