Margaret Moore (Ramaley), 99, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 in Brookfield, WI. She was born on July 24, 1922 to Benjamin and Myrtle Ramaley in Springdale, PA. She was married to John Moore on January 18, 1946. Margaret is survived by her children Stephen (Jennifer) Moore, Virginia Rogers and Douglas (Linda) Moore, grandchildren Benjamin, Rebecca, Jennifer and Lindsey and great grandchildren John, Finnegan, Abigail, Asher, Anders and Dag, as well as her dearest friend Ailene Beady. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Jack and Stephen Ramaley, and daughter-in-law Janet Moore.
Margaret was a graduate of Penn State University (10/43). She majored in Home Economics and Dietetics with a minor in Speech. She was selected to the Omicron Nu Honor Society and Mortar Board. She also joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
In her senior year of college, she was selected to represent Penn State as one of sixteen students from around the country by Eleanor Roosevelt. She participated in a ten day program to encourage young people to participate in government. She spent time at the White House and had dinner and conversation with the President and First Lady.
Throughout college, Margaret was active with the Penn State debate team and traveled to universities throughout the Northeast to compete.
Girl Scouts were an important part of her life from her college days on, while enjoying roles as counselor and troop leader. She was chosen to become a part of the Board of Directors for the Great Blue Heron council in Waukesha, WI.
Margaret was an elected member of the Elmbrook School Board for 15 years and served as President for seven. She was honored for her contributions by the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1978.
In 1997, Margaret was presented, by the Mortar Board, with the Alumni Achievement Award at its national conference in Columbus, Ohio.
Margaret and John were founding members of the Elm Grove Community Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at the Congregational Home in Brookfield and the team at Legacy Hospice for their compassionate care and guidance through Mom’s last days.
