Obituary for Leo F. "Fritz" Kartheiser

Leo F. Kartheiser, 91, formerly of Chilton, WI, Muskego, WI, and Boca Raton, FL (among other places), passed away suddenly on April 7, 2023.

Leo was born on April 17, 1931, to Leo H. Kartheiser & Julia Kartheiser in Milwaukee, WI. Growing up as the son of another Leo, he was affectionately known as “Fritz” to his family and friends.

Leo served in the Korean War. After returning home, Leo met his future wife, Patricia Meicher, at a St Patrick’s Day party. They got engaged a year later, on St Patrick’s Day. St Patrick’s Day is still considered to be a romantic holiday among their descendants. After marrying in 1957, they had four children. They enjoyed 63 years together.

Leo was proud of his 30-year career with IBM. He enjoyed many more years of life after retiring. Leo and his wife were famous for their hospitality and their love of life, family & friends.

Leo will be dearly missed by his surviving children, Frank Kartheiser (Mary), Mary (Mikki) Mette (Stephen) and Karen Kartheiser; grandchildren Benjamin, Arthur and Kaitlin; and great grandchildren Arthur, Hazel and Jadzia.

Leo was predeceased by his wife, his son Joseph and his granddaughter Julia.

Visitation Sunday, April 16, beginning at 1:00, with a short service at 3:00, at Hartson Funeral Home, 11111 W Janesville Rd, Hales Corners.

Following the service, a gathering for family and friends will be held at the Skywalk at Village at Manor Park, 8545 W Beloit Rd, West Allis.
