Larry graduated in 1948 from Argyle High School, and Luther College-Decorah, Iowa in 1954 with a major in Business Administration. His early interest in baseball led him to participate in college baseball. At Luther, he was a starting outfielder for three years. His college was interrupted by the draft during his junior year. He served two years in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Luther College for his senior year of studies and baseball, graduating in 1954.

Larry’s first position after graduating was with the WI State Banking Department where he worked for 10 years as a bank examiner. He joined the Mount Horeb State Bank. In 1966 He joined the State Financial Bank (formally known as State Bank Hales Corners) and retired after 28 years as Senior Vice President. He continued as part time for another four years. While with State Financial Bank, he served on the Hales Corners 4th of July commission for 17 years, eight of which he was chairman. In 1994 he was the Parade Marshall.

After moving to the Hales Corners area in 1966, Larry with his family joined Atonement Lutheran Church in Muskego. During the 70s, he served four years on the church council. He continued to be active in Bible Study.

Larry was a member of the Hales Corners Lions Club for 54 years. During that time, he served as project chairman for the used eye glass collection.

In 2017 he had the honor of participating in the Honor Flight for veterans where they spent a day in Washington DC visiting war memorials. It was an amazing day.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Larry’s honor may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church, Muskego Wisconsin or the Wisconsin Lions Foundation.
