Obituary for Julia Martha Kleppin (Rudolph)

Julia Martha Rudolph Kleppin

Milwaukee, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, age 82.

Beloved partner/spouse of 28 years to Holly Loveland. Loving mother to: Peter (Amy Bethel), Ann Vennard (Shane Heupel), and grandchildren Alex (Kyle), Alison (Ben), Sebastian, Riley and Chayton, also was the loving sister of Gilbert, Steven, and the late Mary Vidich, also "Kitty" the cat, and a life filled with loving friends and associates.

Born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Julia was a fiercely loving, kind and empathetic woman who worked her entire life to make the world a better place. Julia volunteered with Focus Hope in Detroit in the 60's, marched for ERA in Illinois in the 70's, for over 25 years worked at the polls and going door to door to register voters in the poorest parts of Milwaukee, and regularly attended protests for social justice and environmental causes.

Julia searched for the good in people and fought against white supremacy and the patriarchy. A role model for family and friends, she encouraged everyone to stand up and speak out against injustice and inequality. Passionate to a fault, loving but firm, outspoken but willing to listen; Julia was always willing to break the rules for a good cause.

Julia might share a pointed opinion, burst out laughing, or play under the kitchen table with her grandkids; however she was moved by the moment. She proved every day that a woman's place is wherever that woman damn well wants to be. Anyone who knew Julia carries a piece of her spirit and is a better human because of her.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 5th from 1:30pm until 4:30pm at Humboldt Park Pavilion, 3000 S Howell Ave in Milwaukee.

In remembrance, Julia preferred donations be made to Natural Resources Defense Council, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, or your favorite charity.
