Obituary for John M. Winkler

John M. Winkler
3/24/1950 - 5/13/2023

He loved listening to the oldies, ’55 Chevy’s and any old car (provided it was made in the USA), a cold RC on the rocks, visiting with DJ and working on the Model A’s DJ always found, talking with his many friends, chatting with his buddy Easton and being with Lou.

He could fix anything, was a metal fabricator and could always be found tinkering in his garage. He had a great sense of humor, told the best stories and was always interested in other people and their stories.

He had a kind heart, was free spirited, walked against the wind and lived life by his own standards.

Survived by his very best friend and beloved wife Lou (Louise) Johnson. Loving sisters Nell (Claude Held) Winkler and Joan (Mark) Sabljak, a brother Ed (Bonnie) Winkler, sisters-in-law Lisa (Greg) Grigar and Mary (Mark) Kostka, brothers-law Phil (The Queen) Johnson and Joe (Laurie) Hennekens, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceded in death by loving parents, Mary and Ed Winkler, mother-in-law Barbara Johnson Hennekens, brother-in-law Eric Johnson, sister-in-law Karin Johnson Hon and special great nephew and godson Jacob Grigar.

Thank you to all our family and friends for their support during this very difficult time. A very special thank you to Nell, Joan, Lisa, Mary, Bob, Craig, Al, DJ and John. You were there for us from the very first day to his last. We could not have done this without you.

Per John’s wishes no services will be held.

He is and will be deeply missed.

He was the best.
