Obituary for Jerryl A. Scannell (Fauk)

Jerryl Ann Scannell passed away at St Luke’s Hospital with her family by her side on Friday January 6, 2023, at the age of 81.

Survived by her loving husband Tom Scannell, daughters Kathy (Kurt) Wagner, Debbie Ludwig (Lance Braun), Cindy (Marc) Loppnow; grandchildren Andrew and Carly Wagner, Parker and Olivia Ludwig, Maddi and Ella Loppnow; sisters Jackie Holcomb, Judy (Tom) Verkuilen, Joy Fauk, Jenny (Keith) Bloemendaal, Jill (Pat) Seeger, sister-in-law Colleen Scannell, brother-in-law Don Day as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Veronica (Boehme) and George Fauk; in- laws Vivian (VanDrisse) and John Scannell; sisters Jean Blahnik and Joan Day; granddaughter Sophie Loppnow; sister-in-law Patricia Marcolini, and brothers-in-law Jeff Scannell, Richard Marcolini and Clifford Holcomb.

Jerry was born into the Fauk family on June 11, 1941, the third of the “J” sisters. She was a 1959 graduate of Appleton West High School. Jerry worked at the phone company in Appleton and Milwaukee and later at the Credit Union League.

She considered her most important job raising her three daughters.

She met the love of her life on a “blind date” at a Packer game. This was the first of over 300 games they attended together during the 59 years they were married.

Jerry was a strong, independent, loyal person. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Packers, gardening, and was an avid reader. She had a love for language that she shared with her family. Jerry proudly helped start girls little league in Hales Corners. She was a 4-time Olympian at the Transplant Olympics. She had a strong faith and was a wonderful steward of the precious gifts of life she received. Her gifts of a heart from a 14-year-old boy and a kidney from a 4-year-old boy allowed her to live for 25 more years to know and love her grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St Luke’s for the loving and compassionate care given to Jerry over many years. Special thanks to Abbi, her transplant coordinator and Carrie, her home health nurse.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Donate Life Wisconsin or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
