Obituary for Jeanette M. Bernier (Grasser)

Jeanette Mary Bernier (nee Grasser), Age 87, went home to the loving embrace of her Savior Jesus on May 26, 2022 in Greenfield, Wisconsin after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Jeanette was born May 25, 1935 to Theodore, Sr. and Bernice Grasser (nee Mege). She was an identical twin sister to Jean Devlin.

Jeanette is survived by her brother Theodore Grasser, Jr. (Jorlyn) of Knightsdale, NC and Janice Tatum of Wichita, KS. Loving Mother of Lawrence Bernier (Diane), Thomas Bernier (Cindy), Dennis Bernier (Diane), Sharon Kugi (Scott) and Susanne Bernier. Proud Grandmother to Jennifer (Andy), Timothy (Alisa), Melody (Sean), Daniel (Grace), Jacob (Trish), Joshua, Marques, Megan (Brenden), Sarah (Dax) and Danielle. Special Great-Grandmother to Jotham, Liala, Clayton, Elaina, Guy, Tobias, Daphne, Jackson and Parker. Further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold, twin sister Jean Devlin, her parents Theodore, Sr. and Bernice Grasser, and a set of twins that were born prematurely in the late 60’s and are in heaven.

Jeanette graduated from Girls Trades and Technical High School in Milwaukee, WI in 1953. Soon after she married Harold Bernier on June 4, 1955 at Garfield Avenue Baptist Church by Pastor William Kuhnle.

She worked at Wisconsin Bell for 21 years until she retired in 1991.

Jeanette had a great sense of humor and showed love to everyone throughout her life. She lived life to its fullest and she lit up a room with her beautiful smile and her contagious laugh. Her love for the Lord started at an early age in the 1940’s. She attended Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs at Garfield Avenue Baptist Church, and in 1942 she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior. Her faith and relationship with the Lord was most important to her.

She loved babies and children, and volunteered to work in the nursery at Greendale Baptist Church. Jeanette and Harold enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years at Greendale Baptist Church. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, making cards, ceramics, swimming, reading her Bible and spending time with family and friends. She loved dogs, especially Susie’s beagle Rudy.

She loved being a fan of Wisconsin sports teams and attended the Rose Bowl Parade one year with her sisters in Pasadena, CA when the Badgers were playing in the Rose Bowl. Her favorite sports teams were the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She attended many Brewers games with her grandson Timothy Bernier and they enjoyed special times together cheering on the home team.

She played with her grandchildren often and loved camping at Camp Forest Springs, crafts, campfires, listening to Christian music, traveling and anything adventurous.

Jeanette trained for weightlifting, as a senior citizen, and won five trophies for finishing in 1st place and 2nd place in her division.

Another big accomplishment was when she received her Securities License after studying hard to achieve it.

A special thank you to the Clement Manor nursing staff for their kind and loving care of our mother. Mom was loved much and she will be greatly missed.
