Obituary

Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Jenson, nee Brunell, age 81, of New Berlin, entered into Eternal Life on December 10, 2019 peacefully at home after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. She is now whole again and with Jesus.

Jackie (as her friends knew her) was born April 8, 1938 in Baltimore, MD to Theodore and Durella (Nichols) Brunell.  She met Robert Jenson in 1951 as a freshman at Wausau Senior High School in their homeroom class.  They attended UW-Madison together, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.  After graduation, Jackie and Bob were wed in Wausau on June 11, 1960 and would have been wed 60 years this coming summer.

Jackie worked as a teacher, insurance underwriter and accountant.  She started her career teaching Shorthand and Typing at Shiocton High School.  From there she worked at Wausau Insurance for a number of years.  After moving to New Berlin, Jackie stayed home to raise her three loving daughters.   Once the girls were all in school, Jackie resumed her career as an accountant for West Allis Memorial Hospital. Her connection there allowed all of her girls to work with her at the hospital in various departments.  Jackie retired from the hospital in 1998.

Jackie enjoyed her time with her husband and family. She and Bob partook in a number of clubs together. She was especially fond of the friends she made in their bridge, church, and ballroom dancing clubs. They were also very big on camping including yearly Memorial Day and Labor Day camping trip with friends from their schooling. Her favorite times perhaps where the many vacation she took with her family and friends. Destinations included Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Austria, the Netherlands, and multiple cruises with their dance friends as well as various sites in the United States. Jackie had arranged many of the trips that they took with friends and the trips began to be known as the Jenson Jaunts.

“activities that Jackie enjoyed included" Jazzercise, water aerobics, the Red Hat Ladies and belly dancing.  She also was very involved in the TOPS group and even became a KOPS. Her Catholic faith was also important to her. She taught religious education to both youth and adults and served as a Eucharistic minister.

Jackie will be fondly remembered by her girls when she supported them by being a Brownie leader and got them involved in swimming, tennis, ice-skating, and dance lessons. She made sure that they all learn to swim as Jackie herself had not learned how to swim as a child. Jackie loved going to see her grandchildren and all their various activities including band concerts, choir, traveling as au pair for them, and attending their various graduations, and award ceremonies.

Jackie is survived by her husband Robert Jenson and children Julie (Kevin) Farnam of Olathe, KS; Teresa (Dennis) Rudolph of Neenah; and Jamie Lembck of Milwaukee.  She is further survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  They include David Holtkamp; Kayleigh Lembck; Codey Lembck; Justin Lembck; Jacob Shoberg; Alicia Shoberg; Jessica Farnam; Nicole (Jeff) Teigen with daughter Hayden and Luke Rudolph. She is also survived by brother-in-law Bill Hortsch of Neenah ,
Brother in law Bernie Kohn of Berlin and sister-in-law Dori (Mickey) Pierczalski of Allenton.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Durella Brunell, her in-laws Charles and Anna Jenson, her siblings Theodore (Carol) Brunell and Dorothy Hortsch. She is also preceded in death by her in-laws Wayne (Phoebe) Jenson, Roger (Shirley) Jenson and Sandra Kohn. Also preceded by her son in law, Greg Holtkamp.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church (1600 W National Ave, New Berlin) on Saturday, 12/28/19 at 11:30 am.   Visitation will be available at the Church from 10:00 am until the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Vincent DePaul, Holy Apostles Conference.
The Jenson family would especially like to thank her caregiver, Sonya, from Home Instead for all her help in caring for Jackie over last few years. They also appreciated Season’s Hospice staff’s help at the end of her life.

Your family have my sincere condolences. It is a painful thing to lose a love one in death. Death brings great sorrow. Even Jesus cried when Lazarus died. But know that our Heavenly Father the one of all comfort and tender mercies is always here to get us through the difficult times. 2nd Corinthians 1:3,4.
