Obituary for Harry Glinecki

Harry Glinecki passed away March 6, 2022, eight days after his beloved wife, Geraldine, passed.

Harry was born September 22, 1933, the son of the late Albert Jr. and the late Clara (nee Augustiniak) Gliniecki, and grew up in Rosholt, WI.

Harry was a natural athlete, excelling in basketball and baseball, and set school records. After graduation, Harry joined the Marine Corps with his best friend, Duane Dobbe and proudly served with the First Marine Division in Korea. After completing his service, he moved to Milwaukee and married his soulmate Geraldine on May 18, 1957.

Harry worked in Oak Creek for GM in the AC Spark Plug Division for 33 years, never missed a day of work.

Harry will be best remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his joke filled “hunt and peck” typed letters on his Royal typewriter.

Harry was an avid sports fan and loved to watch his family participate in sports. In retirement, Harry enjoyed traveling and daily walks with Geraldine, ushering at Divine Mercy and working on home projects.
In May 2014, Harry was privileged to have the opportunity to travel to Washington DC as part of the Veteran’s Honor Flight. He was joined on this by his lifelong best friend, Duane Dobbe.

When his wife was diagnosed with Dementia and later Parkinson’s, Harry vowed to never place her in a Nursing Home and devoted the remaining eight years of her life to his loving care, despite his need for a hip replacement.

Harry exemplified the Marine motto of Dedication, Sacrifice and Honor, and gave 100% of himself to everything he did and always put others ahead of himself.

Harry was predeceased by his infant brother, Clarence, his sisters, Florence Gagas, Elizabeth Wisniewski and Gladys Lepak, his daughter Mary Jo Cornell in 2016 and his wife, Geraldine, on February 26, 2022.

He is survived by his sons, Gary and Jim, grandsons, Ryan (Tavia) Gavinski, Drew Glinecki, Chase and Owen Gavinski and many nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
