Obituary for Gerald C. Guenette

Age 93, born into eternal life February 11th, 2021. Preceded in death, by the love of his life, his wife of seventy years, Mary Lou.

Loving dad of Dianne (Michael) Hansen, Susan (Steve) Mikecz, Debbie (Jim) Schilling, and Jerry (Sue) Guenette. A very proud grandpa of ten grandchildren and a devoted great grandpa of twenty two. He will be reunited in Heaven with his parents, seven brothers and four sisters. Survived by two sisters, Therese (John) McDonald and Noella Makosky. Further survived and dearly loved by numerous family and friends.

He proudly served in the Army as military security for the Manhattan Project. A gifted baseball player in his youth attributed to his love for the Brewers, the Packers, and the Bucks. He was a long time faithful member of St. Gregory the Great parish. After 40 years at Pressed Steel Tank company where he worked as the lead lab technician, Gerald retired and vastly enjoyed being with his family and traveling. At 93, he took great pleasure in challenging anyone to a game of checkers in which he would proceed to be victorious 99% of the time. This kind soul was admired and respected by so many and his legacy is sure to carry on through everyone who had the pleasure to be in his company.

We will miss his gentle spirit, his sweet smile and his funny one-liners. Until we meet again Dad, “we love you” and we know in our hearts, “you love us too.” After losing the love of his life, he wanted nothing more than to be by her side again. They will be laid to rest, together again, at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 6th from 1:00 PM-2:00PM. Service, with military honors at 2:00 PM. (Masks will be required) The service will be streamed live and later uploaded to the funeral home website. To view the live stream please go to the Hartson Funeral Home Facebook page.
