Obituary for Emigdio Guzman

Emigdio Guzman, 71, born to eternal life on December 6, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen. Beloved father of Emigdio M., Erick (Aimee) and Ericka (David). Emigdio loved his grandchildren, they were his pride and joys: Kayla (Kyle), Austin, Dawaniah, Devin, Aaron, Kenny, Khloe, Emigdio Jr., Xavier, Savannah, Xanthe, Michael, and Alana. Further survived by his siblings, Caesar (Meriam), David (Terri) and Francis (Rudy). Well loved by extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Emigdio was preceded in death by his parents Rosa (Roman) and Marcelino Guzman.

Emigdio was a man of character, integrity, many opinions, and a strong work ethic. He was born in Puerto Rico, moved to Wisconsin in mid 1950's and graduated from West Division High School. He lived the American dream: met the love of his life during high school, together they had 56 years of adventures, three children and 11 grandchildren. Growing up we didn't have a lot of 'extras', but we had what was important, love. He provided for his family by making sure we had a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our back. The sacrifices were many to make this happen, and we never heard him complain about it.

Emigdio loved gardening, fixing cars and spending time with family. Our father enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it was a summer bar b que at the house or a Saturday night poker party with relatives. He enjoyed his annual deer hunting trip with his brother, shooting a deer was considered an extra good year, but spending time with family and friends was what he enjoyed the most. In his later years he enjoyed the "hunt" of a good auction with Colleen and the taste of a good buffet. He knew how to enjoy the simple things in life and not take them for granted. Our dad was an adventurous man that was never afraid to take on a challenge, no matter what the outcome. Now his new journey begins with the Lord.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to long time family friend, Steven Kust and Family for helping in the care of our father.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private. The funeral service however will be streamed live via the Hartson Funeral Home FaceBook page on Friday, December 11th at 11:30 AM.
