Obituary for Eleanor C. "Dolly" Lawson (Spatz)

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Eleanor C. (Spatz) Lawson, who passed away peacefully on December 17th at the age of 94. Eleanor was fondly remembered by those that knew her and loved her by her nickname "Dolly". She was born on September 1st, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Ellis and Marie Spatz, and was raised in Chicago, Illinois.

As a mother, she was a fierce, feisty Irish woman, and believed in kindness and taught us to treat others as we would want to be treated. Together with Dad, they taught us to be authentic and what true love looked and felt like. Mom spent a lifetime sharing the warmth of her friendship. She was an incredible role model for generosity, empathy, truth and love of God and church to her seven children.

Some of Mom's hobbies were playing bridge and making ceramic pieces. She made beautiful Nativity sets, Santas, snow baby ornaments, guardian angels and of course Leprechauns. Whether you were family or friend she had a special piece just for you and loved giving them away.

In her last years she continued to be joyful and laugh often. Her legacy is her large family and many friends that loved her dearly and we are filled with hope that God is embracing her with his love and that she is reunited with Dad once again.

Dolly was preceded in death by her loving husband (Glenn), parents Ellis and Marie Spatz, her brothers Charles, Lawrence, John, Gerald and George, her sisters Ann Marie (Reidy), Rita Spatz, and Patricia (Cunningham), her brother-in-law Ed Cunningham and Jack McCormick, her sister-in-law Therese Spatz.

She is survived by her devoted children Susie (Richard) King, Judi (Don) Crone, Mary Kaye (Bill) Ristow, Nancy (Mark) Runge, Jeri Lynn (Dave) Pawlowski, Sheila (Tom) Reuteman, Glenn Lawson II and his husband Nima Dabestani, her 18 adoring grandchildren, Megan, Zach, Molly (King), Tracy, Joe, Jeff (Crone), Ben, Amber, Seth (Ristow}, Crystal, Doug, Brent (Runge), Dave, Will, Dan (Pawlowski), Patrick, TJ, Luke (Reuteman) and 20 great-grandchildren, a sister Veronica (McCormick) and sisters-in-law Gerry Spatz (Charles) and Grace Spatz (Lawrence). And an abundance of nieces and nephews.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the kind nurses and aides at St. Croix Hospice and the wonderful personnel at Heartis Village in Brookfield, WI, for their compassionate care in the last year. If desired, memorials to St. Croix Hospice, 13255 W. Bluemound Rd., Brookfield, WI 53005 appreciated.

We will be having a private family service with the assistance of Hartson Funeral and St. Mary's in Hales Corners, Wisconsin.
