Obituary for Dolores T. Van Erden (Daxauer)

With great sadness we share the passing of our Mom, Dolores Van Erden (nee Daxauer). Preceded in death by her husband, James A. Van Erden. Dolores leaves behind her children Judith (Mike McFaul), Karen Krumree (Mike) and Steven Van Erden (Amanda). She deeply loved her grandchildren, Nyan Krumree and Phoebe McFaul.

Dolores loved animals both domesticated and wild. She cared for them all. She enjoyed watching birds in her backyard as well as the deer, fox, and the rare black squirrel that often visited. Dolores had many pets throughout her lifetime, most notably her dogs Sarge and Tanner, and her Persian cat, Buddy.

Dolores was also a prolific reader. Once Dolores and Jim became empty nesters, they enjoyed travelling, especially abroad. Dolores’ greatest indulgence was chocolate, a religion she passed along to her children. Only the best chocolates would do! Dolores will be deeply missed by her family and friends, especially Mary Geiger, her life-long friend since the age of three and her cousin Maryann Poedtke.

Due to the pandemic, at this time we are unable to hold a celebration of Dolores’ life. We look forward to doing that in the not so distant future. Memorials are appreciated to Best Friends at bestfriends.org, the Elephant Sanctuary at elephants.com, or an animal charity of your choice.
