Obituary for Dawn M. Harmel (Drews)

Ms. Dawn May Harmel-Drews, of Muskego, WI, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 63. She passed peacefully at home with her family by her side, after a 6 year battle with lung and brain cancer.

Dawn was born to parents Martin and Helen Drews on January 31, 1958 in McHenry, IL. She grew up in Sharon, WI as the 2nd of 4 children, and attended Bigfoot High School in Walworth, WI. After high school she went on to college to further her education and started her own business as a computer programmer. After years of running her own business, Dawn was offered and took a computer consultant position with the County of Walworth where she worked for over a decade.

Dawn loved spending time with family and always looked forward to visits with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas because that was when we would all come together to catch up, laugh, share memories and enjoy amazing meals. She loved all animals and birds but her favorites were hummingbirds and most of all Chloe, her 5 year old Yorkshire Terrier. Dawn also enjoyed watching Disney and comedy movies and her favorite shows included singing and cooking competitions. Dawn was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Dawn is survived by her daughters, Paula Stephens (Dan Stephens), Crystal Weber (Tim Weber) and Beth Rodwell (Matt Rodwell); her son, Peyton Harmel; her sister, Tina Drews; her brother Mark Drews; nine grandchildren, Patrick Terpstra, Aurianna Terpstra, Daisy Ortiz, Blake Read, Adrian Ortiz, Kayley Huss, Lily Huss and Kyle Weber. She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Drews; her brother, David Drews; her grandson, Jacob Weber.

There will be a private cremation. The family is grateful for the condolences but at the request of Dawn, there will not be a visitation or funeral. As an expression of sympathy, donations would be appreciated to help with her final expenses. If preferred, a donation can be made in Dawn’s name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). Please send any donations for the family to Hartson Funeral Home in c/o Beth Rodwell to 11111 W. Janesville Rd., Hales Corners, WI 53130. These donations will be forwarded to the family.
