Obituary for David L Bathke

David L Bathke (Dave) of Franklin, WI passed on to eternal life surrounded by his family on March 3, 2023. Dave was 80 years old and born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin on March 17th, 1942. He was proceeded in death by his mother Maxine Bathke (Brown) and father Ervin Bathke, mother-in-law Verna Koziel and father-in-law Emile Koziel.

Dave graduated from Wausau East High School in 1960 and entered the bakers apprentice program. He went to work for Crestwood Bakery in 1962 and relocated to West Allis, WI and became a “Master Baker by Trade” he retired from Crestwood Bakery as the plant superintendent after 43 years of service.

Surviving Dave to honor his memory are his loving wife Annette (nee Koziel) of 60 years; and his children, David (Lyly) and Jay (Jessica). Forever cherished and remembered by his four grandchildren, Ali, Kyle, Jenna and Jacob. Siblings and their families; Jan (Myke) Main, Jodi (Greg) Wait, Jean (Ken) Young, Julie (Bob) Mansfield, Pam (Steve) Hieden and Tim (Sue) Bathke.

His memory will be cherished by the Koziel family; Joan and Jack Bergs, Sandra and Rick Warner, Bonnie and Jeff Hahn, Laurel and Mark Gillmann, Clifford Koziel and Karen Wagner. His memory will further live on with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, hunting/fishing buddies and past co-workers.

Dave loved to read books and magazines with his favorite authors being Jack O’Connor and Tom Clancy. Dave was a past member of the West Allis Chapter of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Past Worthy Patron of West Allis chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Dave also loved to hunt and fish, and was one with the earth, wilderness and mountains, hunting and fishing throughout the world. He also enjoyed sharing his stories, adventures and slide presentations of those trips.

He was a member of the Wisconsin Bow Hunters, Triangle Gun Club, Wisconsin Buck and Bear Club , an Official Measurer for Boone and Crockett Conservation Club and an Official Scorer for Pope & Young Club. His memory will further live on as a Founding Charter Member of the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep (FNAWS).

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday April 29th, 2023 Visitation and Respects from 1:00pm – 3:00pm, Service at 3:00pm at: Hartson Funeral Home, 11111 West Janesville Road, Hales Corners, WI 53130.
