Obituary for Dana Aszman (Severson)

Dana L. Aszman passed away peacefully to Eternal Life on Monday, January 2nd, 2023, at 99 years.

Dana is survived, loved, and will be deeply missed by son Nickolas (Suzanne Thomas) and daughter Joan (Stephen) Tardif. Dana is also survived by her loving grandchildren Dana (Tony) Schirmacher, Sarah (Todd) Johnson, Laura Aszman, Brian (Nicole) Brasted, and Anne (Brendan) Tierney. She is further survived by great-grandchildren Rhiannon, Nickolas, Tristen, Aayla, Brooklynn, Asher, Dalton, Emerson, and Emmalyn, along with sister Jane, numerous nieces/nephews, and close friend Sharon.

Dana was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Nickolas, daughter Dana Marie, 10 brothers and sisters, and numerous other relatives.

Dana was born in Cudahy, Wisconsin, and was a life-long Southsider to the Milwaukee area before settling to New Berlin in 1982 until her last days. She enjoyed gardening (she cut her own grass until age 85) and was ahead of her time being a vegetarian since age 20 and practicing yoga since the 1960’s. Her other interests were poetry, art, and dress making, along with the love of horses and birds of all kinds.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the home team of healthcare professionals who allowed Dana her wish to live on her own until her last days: By Your Side Care Management (Katy & Kelly), Promedia (Erin), Village Primary Care (Liz), Touching Hearts At Home (Lori and Tina), and Waukesha ADRC (Jennifer), as well as niece Donna. Additional gratitude to Aurora West Allis Medical Center and Aurora Zilber Family Hospice staff for their loving and compassionate care at her end of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dana’s name to the Waukesha County ADRC Meals on Wheels program or American Heart Association would be appreciated.
