Obituary

Ann Irene (Durek) Sobocinski, of Cudahy, passed away peacefully June 1, 2020, at Clement Manor’s Claire Suites memory care unit. Ann was 92.

Ann was born July 16, 1927, in Cudahy, Wis., to the late Anna (Paljesek) Durek and Stefan Durek. Ann graduated from St. Joseph Grade School in Cudahy and Cudahy High School. After high school, she worked at Allis-Chalmers and later at Cudahy Marine Bank. Ann married Richard Sobocinski on April 26, 1949. They lived in Cudahy until 1987, when she and Richard retired and moved to Fountain Hills, AZ, where she lived for 28 years. Richard died July 15, 2009. Ann moved back to Wisconsin in February 2015.

Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games. She was a great seamstress and cook, and along with Richard loved to travel. Ann loved to play bingo, and collected angel figurines, which adorned her nursing home room. We will miss her dearly.

Survivors include her son, Thomas R. (Deborah) Sobocinski; her daughter, Nancy A. (Michael) Juley; four grandchildren, Melissa (Jesse) Chipman, Mark Sobocinski, Justin (Yelena) Juley and Lindsay Juley; and two great-grandchildren, Megan Chipman and Wesley Juley.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Paul R. Durek and Simon J. Durek; and a sister, Mary (Durek) Wick.

No service will be held. Her body will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried with her husband in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek, AZ. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
